The hotel Arion is centrally located in the Vaporia district of Ermoupolis on the east coast of Siros. There are ferry services to all the Cycladic islands and most other major ports. The airport is a short car journey away and there are bus services to all the other towns and villages on the island. Syros was once a major port on the silk route which is reflected in Ermoupoli's abundance of grand public and private buildings. Considered culturally superior to Athens in it's heyday, Ermoupolis is still the capital of the Cyclades.
